Andrea Robin, 300 RYT, B.Ed, is a certified yoga mentor in the Hatha, Vinyasa and Partner yoga styles but considers herself a student first and foremost. She firmly believes that yoga helps people to heal from within, that everyone’s journey is different and that you can never finish learning.
Known for her genuine and welcoming demeanour, Andrea encourages students to discover their authentic selves through asana (postures), pranayama (breath work) & medtiation. She does her best to apply the teachings of various ancient philosophies to our hectic modern life. Andrea also likes to make sure that her classes are fun, accessible and varied in nature.
Andrea’s svadhyaya (introspection & self-study) has led her to the study of energy work & chakras and to becoming a Reiki Master/Teacher to further be able to help others heal their personal traumas.
Having organised and taken parts in many charitable events, Andrea finds the act of giving to be one of the most fulfilling and rewarding aspects of life. To quote Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” The more love & compassion we cultivate, the better we make the world for everyone.
Some things I've been up to
This is my third time as a speaker at a Prairie Yogi festival. I am honoured & excited to hang out with my fellow prairie yogis! A two day outdoor event under the big sky at Fort Whyte bringing together like minded folks to learn, practice & celebrate.
Canadian fitness magazine, Sweat Equity, asked me to write an article about the Couple's Yoga class that I developed and the effects that it has on the participating couples and myself. Couples & Partner Yoga have a special place in my heart and I take every opportunity I can to share this theraputic practice.
I was very honoured to join the ranks of several of my fellow yoga teachers and was featured as "Prairie Yogi of the Month" for February 2014. I lead a very special Partner Yoga class in conjunction with Prairie Yogi Magazine that same month . I've since lead a Speakeasy workshop at the Prairie Love Yoga Festival and highly recommend attending any event Prairie Yogi organises!
I have been fortunate to be a TEDx entertainer and bring yoga to the stage at TEDx Manitoba 2013 and TEDx Winnipeg 2015. I met so many amazing & inspiring people and have created some lasting relationships from both these events. If you ever have the opportunity to be an audience member (or speaker!) at a TEDx event, I highly reccomend you go for it!
Last winter I lead a yoga retreat in Roatan, Honduras. It was a magical experience that included snorkeling, SUP, kayaking and the making of new friendships. It so so incredible, that TRAVEL ROOTS and I decided to do it again this coming March! Please consider joining us in what will surely be a most life changing experience!
I consider PegCity my “home ” studio. I teach the noon Vinyasa class on Mondays, sub when needed and usually can be found taking a class whenever I can. It’s a friendly, non-elitist studio with a variety of teacher and styles. They have recently added their own teacher training program, Sivatantra Yoga Teacher Training, if you have ever wanted to deepen your practice or become a yoga instructor yourself!
My local shop for all things metaphysical including crystals, smudging sage, books and anything else I seem to need. Owners Lisa & Shauna (and their staff) are always full of advice and willing to help, even if I don’t happen to purchase anything that visit. They also offer a wide variety of classes including tarot & angel card reading, pendulum usage, aromatherapy, sacred geometry and more! They are strong supporters of the community and local entrepreneurs. Please stop in if you’re in the Corydon area!
I adore MPG’s high performance workout gear for 3 reasons: it looks amazing, lasts forever and 1% of total sales goes to the Mondetta Charity Foundation to a school in Uganda and an orphanage in Kenya. And ALL of the money goes to the children as administrative costs are covered by Mondetta. It’s a win-win-win!
